A fascinating Danish vintage four-string tenor guitar, tentatively attributed to the Copenhagen instrument maker Thorvald Lund (1876–1930). The handwritten interior label refers to a gold medal at the Barcelona International Exposition in 1929, and the distinctive red wax seal appears to bear the name Th. Lund. The attribution, medal claim and exact manufacturing date have not been independently authenticated; the instrument is thought to date from around 1930 or later. CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS The instrument is believed to have a solid spruce top, oak back and sides, and an ebony fingerboard, although the wood species have not been independently verified. It features a four-string configuration, traditional slotted headstock, decorative wooden bridge and attractive natural vintage patina. SOUND AND PLAYABILITY Fully playable, structurally solid and stable despite its long history. The guitar has good, comfortable action and a rich, surprisingly loud acoustic sound with strong projection. CONDITION Nearly a century of playing has left visible wear, marks and several previous repairs. These are part of its history, and the instrument is now structurally solid and ready to play. This is an authentic, well-used vintage instrument, not a pristine collector's example. Please examine all five original photographs carefully; they form an important part of the description. An intriguing Danish tenor guitar for players and collectors interested in historic European string instruments. Sold in its present vintage condition.
